महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-3, verse-52

स तैरर्कपत्रैर्भक्षितैः क्षारकटूष्णविपाकिभिश्चक्षुष्युपहतोऽन्धोऽभवत् ।
सोऽन्धोऽपि चङ्क्रम्यमाणः कूपेऽपतत् ॥५२॥
52. sa tairarkapatrairbhakṣitaiḥ kṣārakaṭūṣṇavipākibhiścakṣuṣyupahato'ndho'bhavat ,
so'ndho'pi caṅkramyamāṇaḥ kūpe'patat.
52. saḥ taiḥ arkapatraiḥ bhakṣitaiḥ
kṣārakaṭūṣṇavipākibhiḥ cakṣuṣi
upahataḥ andhaḥ abhavat saḥ andhaḥ
api caṅkramyamāṇaḥ kūpe apatat
52. Having eaten those arka leaves, which were salty, pungent, and had a heating effect, his eyes were damaged, and he became blind. Even though he was blind, while wandering, he fell into a well.
