एतस्मिन्नन्तरे स श्रमणस्त्वरमाण उपसृत्य ते कुण्डले गृहीत्वा प्राद्रवत् ।
तमुत्तङ्कोऽभिसृत्य जग्राह ।
स तद्रूपं विहाय तक्षकरूपं कृत्वा सहसा धरण्यां विवृतं महाबिलं विवेश ॥१३७॥

137. etasminnantare sa śramaṇastvaramāṇa upasṛtya te kuṇḍale gṛhītvā prādravat ,
tamuttaṅko'bhisṛtya jagrāha ,
sa tadrūpaṁ vihāya takṣakarūpaṁ kṛtvā sahasā dharaṇyāṁ vivṛtaṁ mahābilaṁ viveśa.

In the meantime, that mendicant, hurrying up, approached, took those two earrings, and ran away. Uttanka pursued and caught him. He (the mendicant), abandoning that form, assumed the form of Takshaka and suddenly entered a great open chasm in the earth.
