महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-3, verse-160

स ते प्रतिजग्राहोत्तङ्कः ।
कुण्डले प्रतिगृह्याचिन्तयत् ।
अद्य तत्पुण्यकमुपाध्यायिन्याः ।
दूरं चाहमभ्यागतः ।
कथं नु खलु संभावयेयमिति ॥१६०॥
160. sa te pratijagrāhottaṅkaḥ ,
kuṇḍale pratigṛhyācintayat ,
adya tatpuṇyakamupādhyāyinyāḥ ,
dūraṁ cāhamabhyāgataḥ ,
kathaṁ nu khalu saṁbhāvayeyamiti.
160. sa te pratijagrāha uttaṅkaḥ kuṇḍale
pratigṛhya acintayat adya tatpuṇyakam
upādhyāyinyāḥ dūram ca aham abhyāgataḥ
katham nu khalu saṃbhāvayeyam iti
160. Uttanka accepted them from him. Having received the earrings, he thought, "Today is the day for the teacher's wife's meritorious offering, and I have come a long way. How indeed can I possibly manage this?"
