महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-3, verse-100

सैवमुक्तोपाध्यायिन्युत्तङ्कं प्रत्युवाच ।
गच्छ पौष्यं राजानम् ।
भिक्षस्व तस्य क्षत्रियया पिनद्धे कुण्डले ।
ते आनयस्व ।
इतश्चतुर्थेऽहनि पुण्यकं भविता ।
ताभ्यामाबद्धाभ्यां ब्राह्मणान्परिवेष्टुमिच्छामि ।
शोभमाना यथा ताभ्यां कुण्डलाभ्यां तस्मिन्नहनि संपादयस्व ।
श्रेयो हि ते स्यात्क्षणं कुर्वत इति ॥१००॥
100. saivamuktopādhyāyinyuttaṅkaṁ pratyuvāca ,
gaccha pauṣyaṁ rājānam ,
bhikṣasva tasya kṣatriyayā pinaddhe kuṇḍale ,
te ānayasva ,
itaścaturthe'hani puṇyakaṁ bhavitā ,
tābhyāmābaddhābhyāṁ brāhmaṇānpariveṣṭumicchāmi ,
śobhamānā yathā tābhyāṁ kuṇḍalābhyāṁ tasminnahani saṁpādayasva ,
śreyo hi te syātkṣaṇaṁ kurvata iti.
100. sā evam uktā upādhyāyinī uttaṅkam pratyuvāca gaccha pauṣyam rājānam bhikṣasva
tasya kṣatriyayā pinaddhe kuṇḍale te ānayasva itaḥ caturthe ahani puṇyakam
bhavitā tābhyām ābaddhābhyām brāhmaṇān pariveṣṭum icchāmi śobhamānā yathā tābhyām
kuṇḍalābhyām tasmin ahani saṃpādayasva śreyaḥ hi te syāt kṣaṇam kurvataḥ iti
100. Thus addressed, the teacher's wife replied to Uttanka: 'Go to King Paushya and beg from him the two earrings worn by his Kshatriya wife. Bring them to me. On the fourth day from now, there will be a meritorious ceremony. I wish to serve Brahmins while adorned with those two earrings. Therefore, ensure that they are presented beautifully on that day, adorned with those earrings. Indeed, it will be auspicious for you if you do this promptly.'
