39. tamupādhyāyastathāpi pīvānameva dṛṣṭvovāca ,
vatsopamanyo sarvamaśeṣataste bhaikṣaṁ gṛhṇāmi ,
kenedānīṁ vṛttiṁ kalpayasīti.
vatsopamanyo sarvamaśeṣataste bhaikṣaṁ gṛhṇāmi ,
kenedānīṁ vṛttiṁ kalpayasīti.

Even then, the teacher, seeing him still stout, said, "Dear Upamanyu, I take all your alms, every bit of it. How do you manage your livelihood now?"
