महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-81, verse-77

व्यासेन नृपशार्दूल द्विजार्थमिति नः श्रुतम् ।
सर्वतीर्थेषु स स्नाति मिश्रके स्नाति यो नरः ॥७७॥
77. vyāsena nṛpaśārdūla dvijārthamiti naḥ śrutam ,
sarvatīrtheṣu sa snāti miśrake snāti yo naraḥ.
77. vyāsena nṛpaśārdūla dvijārtham iti naḥ śrutam
sarvatīrtheṣu saḥ snāti miśrake snāti yaḥ naraḥ
77. O tiger among kings, we have heard that this (mixing of holy places) was done by Vyasa for the sake of the twice-born (dvija). Any person who bathes in Miśraka thereby bathes in all holy places (tīrtha).
