महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-81, verse-40

गवांभवनमासाद्य तीर्थसेवी यथाक्रमम् ।
तत्राभिषेकं कुर्वाणो गोसहस्रफलं लभेत् ॥४०॥
40. gavāṁbhavanamāsādya tīrthasevī yathākramam ,
tatrābhiṣekaṁ kurvāṇo gosahasraphalaṁ labhet.
40. gavām bhavanam āsādya tīrthasevī yathākramam
tatra abhiṣekam kurvāṇaḥ gosahasraphalam labhet
40. A pilgrim who, in due order, reaches the abode of cows and performs an ablution there, attains the merit equivalent to [donating] a thousand cows.
