महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-81, verse-45

तत्राभिषेकं कुर्वीत पितृदेवार्चने रतः ।
अश्वमेधमवाप्नोति पितृलोकं च गच्छति ॥४५॥
45. tatrābhiṣekaṁ kurvīta pitṛdevārcane rataḥ ,
aśvamedhamavāpnoti pitṛlokaṁ ca gacchati.

aśvamedham avāpnoti pitṛlokam ca gacchati
45. There, being devoted to the worship of ancestors (pitaraḥ) and deities, one should perform a ritual bath. He attains the merit of an Aṣvamedha (aśvamedha) sacrifice and goes to the world of the ancestors (pitṛloka).
