महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-81, verse-49

पुनाति दर्शनादेव दण्डेनैकं नराधिप ।
केशानभ्युक्ष्य वै तस्मिन्पूतो भवति भारत ॥४९॥
49. punāti darśanādeva daṇḍenaikaṁ narādhipa ,
keśānabhyukṣya vai tasminpūto bhavati bhārata.
49. punāti darśanāt eva daṇḍena ekam narādhipa
keśān abhyukṣya vai tasmin pūtaḥ bhavati bhārata
49. O king (narādhipa), it purifies a single individual merely by its sight. O Bhārata, by sprinkling one's hair with water in that sacred place (tīrtha) using a staff, one certainly becomes purified.
