महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-81, verse-177

ब्रह्मवेदी कुरुक्षेत्रं पुण्यं ब्रह्मर्षिसेवितम् ।
तदावसन्ति ये राजन्न ते शोच्याः कथंचन ॥१७७॥
177. brahmavedī kurukṣetraṁ puṇyaṁ brahmarṣisevitam ,
tadāvasanti ye rājanna te śocyāḥ kathaṁcana.
177. brahmavedī kurukṣetram puṇyam brahmarṣisevitam
tadā avasanti ye rājan na te śocyāḥ kathaṃcana
177. A knower of Brahman (brahmavedī) declares that Kurukṣetra is sacred and frequented by Brahman-sages (brahmarṣi). O King, those who dwell there are certainly not to be pitied at all.
