महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-308, verse-99

न चैषां चोदना काचिदस्तीत्येष विनिश्चयः ।
एकैकस्येह विज्ञानं नास्त्यात्मनि तथा परे ॥९९॥

99. na caiṣāṁ codanā kācidastītyeṣa viniścayaḥ ,
ekaikasyeha vijñānaṁ nāstyātmani tathā pare.

ekaikasya iha vijñānam na asti ātmani tathā pare

99. And there is no specific driving force (codanā) for these (senses and their objects) – this is the definite conclusion. In this world, an isolated cognition (vijñāna) does not exist solely within the self (ātman) or solely in another (external object).
