No guest (atithi) should stay in a person's house (gēhē) if, according to their capacity (śaktitaḥ), they have not been honored with seating (āsanaiḥ), food (aśanaiḥ), bedding (śayyābhiḥ), water (adbhiḥ), or fruit and roots (mūlaphalēna), or by other means (vā).
