मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-4, verse-252

गुरुषु त्वभ्यतीतेषु विना वा तैर्गृहे वसन ।
आत्मनो वृत्तिमन्विच्छन गृह्णीयात साधुतः सदा ॥२५२॥
252. guruṣu tvabhyatīteṣu vinā vā tairgṛhe vasan ,
ātmano vṛttimanvicchan gṛhṇīyāt sādhutaḥ sadā.
252. gurusu tu abhyatīteṣu vinā vā taiḥ gṛhe vasan |
ātmanaḥ vr̥ttim anvicchan gr̥hṇīyāt sādhu taḥ sadā
252. tu gurusu abhyatīteṣu vā taiḥ saha gṛhe vasan
ātmanaḥ vr̥ttim anvicchan sādhu taḥ sadā gr̥hṇīyāt
252. When the elders (gurun) have departed or are absent, or living in the house, while seeking one's livelihood (vṛttim), one should always accept (offerings) from virtuous people.
