मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-4, verse-137

नात्मानमवमन्येत पुर्वाभिरसमृद्धिभिः ।
आ मृत्योः श्रियमन्विच्छेन्नैनां मन्येत दुर्लभाम ॥१३७॥
137. nātmānamavamanyeta purvābhirasamṛddhibhiḥ ,
ā mṛtyoḥ śriyamanvicchennaināṁ manyeta durlabhām.

mṛtyoḥ śriyam anvicchen naināṃ manyeta durlabhām
137. ātmanam pūrvābhirasamṛddhibhiḥ na avamaanyeta ā
mṛtyoḥ śriyam anvicchet nainām durlabhām manyeta
137. One should not disrespect oneself due to past lack of prosperity. Until death, one should seek prosperity, and not consider it unattainable.
