Indeed, for him whose fires (agnayaḥ) have not been worshipped with new grain (navēna) and animal offerings (paśuhavyēna), the gods (agnayaḥ) desire to consume his vital breaths (prāṇān), as they are greedy for new food and meat (navānnāmiṣagardhinaḥ).
