मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-7, verse-117

विंशतीशस्तु तत सर्वं शतेशाय निवेदयेत ।
शंसेद ग्रामशतेशस्तु सहस्रपतये स्वयम ॥११७॥
117. viṁśatīśastu tat sarvaṁ śateśāya nivedayet ,
śaṁsed grāmaśateśastu sahasrapataye svayam.

śansēda grāmaśatēśastu sahasrapatayē svayam

117. The chief of twenty villages should then report everything to the chief of a hundred villages. The chief of a hundred villages should report to the lord of a thousand villages himself.
