O Janārdana, O destroyer of enemies (amitrghna)! This renowned hymn of praise was obtained by me from Mārkaṇḍeya through strict adherence (niyamena). I impart it to you today, for it leads to heaven, brings health and longevity, and likewise bestows wealth and strength.
