महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-24, verse-71

सूर्याचन्द्रमसौ कृत्वा चक्रे रथवरोत्तमे ।
पक्षौ पूर्वापरौ तत्र कृते रात्र्यहनी शुभे ॥७१॥
71. sūryācandramasau kṛtvā cakre rathavarottame ,
pakṣau pūrvāparau tatra kṛte rātryahanī śubhe.

71. Having made the Sun and Moon into the two most excellent chariot-wheels, there, the auspicious night and day were made the two eastern and western sides.
