महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-24, verse-37

तपः परं समातस्थुर्गृणन्तो ब्रह्म शाश्वतम् ।
ऋषिभिः सह धर्मज्ञा भवं सर्वात्मना गताः ॥३७॥
37. tapaḥ paraṁ samātasthurgṛṇanto brahma śāśvatam ,
ṛṣibhiḥ saha dharmajñā bhavaṁ sarvātmanā gatāḥ.

37. Those who understood the natural law (dharma), accompanied by the sages, practiced supreme austerity (tapas) while chanting the eternal reality (brahman), and they attained Bhava (Śiva) with their whole being (ātman).
