महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-10, chapter-8, verse-91

तस्मिंस्तमसि संजाते प्रमूढाः सर्वतो जनाः ।
नाजानन्पितरः पुत्रान्भ्रातॄन्भ्रातर एव च ॥९१॥
91. tasmiṁstamasi saṁjāte pramūḍhāḥ sarvato janāḥ ,
nājānanpitaraḥ putrānbhrātṝnbhrātara eva ca.
91. tasmin tamasi saṃjāte pramūḍhāḥ sarvataḥ janāḥ na
ajānan pitaraḥ putrān bhrātṝn bhrātaraḥ eva ca
91. tasmin tamasi saṃjāte sarvataḥ janāḥ pramūḍhāḥ (asan)
pitaraḥ putrān na ajānan ca bhrātaraḥ eva bhrātṝn na ajānan
91. With that darkness having arisen, people everywhere became utterly bewildered. Fathers could not recognize their sons, nor could brothers recognize their brothers.
