महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-10, chapter-8, verse-40

विस्फुरद्भिश्च तैर्द्रौणिर्निस्त्रिंशस्योद्यमेन च ।
आक्षेपेण तथैवासेस्त्रिधा रक्तोक्षितोऽभवत् ॥४०॥
40. visphuradbhiśca tairdrauṇirnistriṁśasyodyamena ca ,
ākṣepeṇa tathaivāsestridhā raktokṣito'bhavat.
40. visphuradbhiḥ ca taiḥ drauṇiḥ nistriṃśasya udyamena ca
ākṣepeṇa tathā eva aseḥ tri-dhā rakta-ukṣitaḥ abhavat
40. drauṇiḥ taiḥ visphuradbhiḥ ca nistriṃśasya udyamena ca
aseḥ ākṣepeṇa tathā eva tri-dhā rakta-ukṣitaḥ abhavat
40. Drauṇi became drenched in blood in three ways: by the writhing (bodies) and by them, by the exertion of wielding his long sword, and similarly by the forceful blows of the sword.
