मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-3, verse-282

न पैतृयज्ञियो होमो लौकिकेऽग्नौ विधीयते ।
न दर्शेन विना श्राद्धमाहिताग्नेर्द्विजन्मनः ॥२८२॥
282. na paitṛyajñiyo homo laukike'gnau vidhīyate ,
na darśena vinā śrāddhamāhitāgnerdvijanmanaḥ.
282. na paitryajñiyo homo laukike ’gnau vidhīyate |
na darśena vinā śrāddham āhitāgner dvijajmanah
282. The homa (fire ritual) for the ancestral Vedic ritual (pitṛyajña) is not prescribed in the ordinary (laukika) fire. A śrāddha is not performed without the darśa (new moon) tithi for an āhitāgni (one who maintains the sacred fires) twice-born man.
