मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-3, verse-203

दैवकार्याद द्विजातीनां पितृकार्यं विशिष्यते ।
दैवं हि पितृकार्यस्य पूर्वमाप्यायनं स्मृतम ॥२०३॥
203. daivakāryād dvijātīnāṁ pitṛkāryaṁ viśiṣyate ,
daivaṁ hi pitṛkāryasya pūrvamāpyāyanaṁ smṛtam.
203. daiva-kāryāt dvi-jātīnām pitṛ-kāryam viśiṣyate
daivam hi pitṛ-kāryasya pūrvaṃ āpyāyanam smṛtam
203. Of the twice-born (dvijātīna), the ancestral rites (pitṛkārya) are considered superior to divine rites (daivakārya). For the divine rite is remembered as a prior nourishment for the ancestral rite.
