मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-3, verse-278

यथा चैवापरः पक्षः पूर्वपक्षाद विशिष्यते ।
तथा श्राद्धस्य पूर्वाह्णादपराह्णो विशिष्यते ॥२७८॥
278. yathā caivāparaḥ pakṣaḥ pūrvapakṣād viśiṣyate ,
tathā śrāddhasya pūrvāhṇādaparāhṇo viśiṣyate.
278. yathā ca eva aparaḥ pakṣaḥ pūrvapakṣāt viśiṣyate
tathā śrāddhasya pūrvāhṇāt aparāhṇaḥ viśiṣyate
278. yathā ca eva aparaḥ pakṣaḥ pūrvapakṣāt viśiṣyate,
tathā śrāddhasya aparāhṇaḥ pūrvāhṇāt viśiṣyate
278. Just as the latter half of the lunar month (aparāḥ pakṣaḥ) is distinguished from the former half (pūrvapakṣāt), so the afternoon (aparāhṇo) is distinguished from the forenoon (pūrvāhṇāt) for a śrāddha (śrāddhasya).
