मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-3, verse-224

पाणिभ्यां तूपसङ्गृह्य स्वयमन्नस्य वर्धितम ।
विप्रान्तिके पितॄन ध्यायन शनकैरुपनिक्षिपेत ॥२२४॥
224. pāṇibhyāṁ tūpasaṅgṛhya svayamannasya vardhitam ,
viprāntike pitṝn dhyāyan śanakairupanikṣipet.

224. Holding the cooked rice himself with both hands, and while meditating on the ancestors in the presence of a Brahmin, one should slowly place it down.
