मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-3, verse-127

प्रथिता प्रेतकृत्यैषा पित्र्यं नाम विधुक्षये ।
तस्मिन युक्तस्यैति नित्यं प्रेतकृत्यैव लौकिकी ॥१२७॥
127. prathitā pretakṛtyaiṣā pitryaṁ nāma vidhukṣaye ,
tasmin yuktasyaiti nityaṁ pretakṛtyaiva laukikī.
127. prathitā pretakṛtyā eṣā pitṛyam nāma vidhukṣaye
tasmin yuktasya eti nityam pretakṛtyā eva laukikī
127. This famous rite for the deceased (pretakṛtyā) is known as 'ancestral' (pitṛya) and is performed on the new moon day. For a person engaged in such a rite, the ordinary (laukikī) rite for the deceased itself always becomes effective.
