मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-3, verse-223

तेषां दत्त्वा तु हस्तेषु सपवित्रं तिलौदकम ।
तत्पिण्डाग्रं प्रयच्छेत स्वधैषामस्त्विति ब्रुवन ॥२२३॥
223. teṣāṁ dattvā tu hasteṣu sapavitraṁ tilaudakam ,
tatpiṇḍāgraṁ prayaccheta svadhaiṣāmastviti bruvan.

223. After giving them sacred kusha grass and rice balls in their hands, one should offer the foremost of the pindas (rice balls for ancestors) while saying, 'May this be svadhā (offering) for them'.
