मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-3, verse-204

तेषामारक्षभूतं तु पूर्वं दैवं नियोजयेत ।
रक्षांसि विप्रलुम्पन्ति श्राद्धमारक्षवर्जितम ॥२०४॥
204. teṣāmārakṣabhūtaṁ tu pūrvaṁ daivaṁ niyojayet ,
rakṣāṁsi vipralumpanti śrāddhamārakṣavarjitam.

rakṣāṃsi vipralumpanti śrāddham ārakṣa-varjitam
204. For them, the divine rite (daiva) should be performed first as a protection. For demons (rakṣāṃsi) disturb a śrāddha (funeral rite) that is not protected.
