etāni viṣayeṣu prajuṣṭāni asevayā tathā na
saṃniyantum śakyante yathā jñānena nityaśaḥ

These (senses) cannot be fully controlled by non-indulgence in sense objects (viṣaya) in the same way that they can always be controlled by true knowledge (jñāna).
