मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-2, verse-142

निषेकादीनि कर्माणि यः करोति यथाविधि ।
संभावयति चान्नेन स विप्रो गुरुरुच्यते ॥१४२॥
142. niṣekādīni karmāṇi yaḥ karoti yathāvidhi ,
saṁbhāvayati cānnena sa vipro gururucyate.

142. That brahmin (vipra) who performs the rites (karma) beginning with the impregnation ceremony (niṣeka) according to the prescribed rules, and who also sustains one with food, is called a teacher (guru).
