मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-2, verse-35

चूडाकर्म द्विजातीनां सर्वेषामेव धर्मतः ।
प्रथमेऽब्दे तृतीये वा कर्तव्यं श्रुतिचोदनात ॥३५॥
35. cūḍākarma dvijātīnāṁ sarveṣāmeva dharmataḥ ,
prathame'bde tṛtīye vā kartavyaṁ śruticodanāt.

35. The tonsure ceremony (cūḍākarma) should be performed for all twice-born (dvijāti) individuals according to their intrinsic nature (dharma), either in the first or the third year, as enjoined by the scriptures.
