महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-82, verse-15

शाकाहारस्य यत्सम्यग्वर्षैर्द्वादशभिः फलम् ।
तत्फलं तस्य भवति देव्याश्छन्देन भारत ॥१५॥
15. śākāhārasya yatsamyagvarṣairdvādaśabhiḥ phalam ,
tatphalaṁ tasya bhavati devyāśchandena bhārata.

15. O Bhārata, whatever fruit is truly gained from a vegetable diet for twelve years, that very fruit becomes his by the will of the Goddess.
