महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-82, verse-124

तत्र मासं वसेद्वीर कौशिक्यां भरतर्षभ ।
अश्वमेधस्य यत्पुण्यं तन्मासेनाधिगच्छति ॥१२४॥
124. tatra māsaṁ vasedvīra kauśikyāṁ bharatarṣabha ,
aśvamedhasya yatpuṇyaṁ tanmāsenādhigacchati.
124. tatra māsam vaset vīra kauśikyām bharatarṣabha
aśvamedhasya yat puṇyam tat māsena adhigacchati
124. There, O hero, O best of the Bharatas, one should dwell for a month in the Kauśikī river; whatever merit is gained from an aśvamedha (horse sacrifice), that one obtains by dwelling there for a month.
