महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-29, verse-88

शम्यापातेनाभ्यतीयाद्वेदीभिश्चित्रयन्नृप ।
ईजानः क्रतुभिः पुण्यैः पर्यगच्छद्वसुंधराम् ॥८८॥
88. śamyāpātenābhyatīyādvedībhiścitrayannṛpa ,
ījānaḥ kratubhiḥ puṇyaiḥ paryagacchadvasuṁdharām.

88. O king (Sṛñjaya), by merely throwing the *śamyā* (a wooden peg used for marking ritual ground), he would surpass (others), adorning the land with sacrificial altars. Having performed meritorious sacrifices (kratu), he traversed the earth.
