devāḥ devarūpiṇam yam pituḥ utsaṅge śayānam dṛṣṭvā,
anyonyam abruvan -- "vai,
ayam kam dhāsyati?" iti.

When they saw him, god-like, lying in his father's lap, the gods asked each other, 'Indeed, whom will this (child) nourish/sustain?'
