महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-29, verse-46

रामं दाशरथिं चैव मृतं शुश्रुम सृञ्जय ।
योऽन्वकम्पत वै नित्यं प्रजाः पुत्रानिवौरसान् ॥४६॥
46. rāmaṁ dāśarathiṁ caiva mṛtaṁ śuśruma sṛñjaya ,
yo'nvakampata vai nityaṁ prajāḥ putrānivaurasān.
46. rāmam dāśarathim ca eva mṛtam śuśruma sṛñjaya yaḥ
anvakampata vai nityam prajāḥ putrān iva aurasān
46. sṛñjaya ca eva mṛtam rāmam dāśarathim śuśruma; yaḥ
vai nityam aurasān putrān iva prajāḥ anvakampata
46. O Sṛñjaya, we have indeed heard that even Rāma, the son of Daśaratha, died; he who always compassionately regarded his subjects as his own legitimate sons.
