महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-112, verse-80

स्त्रीत्वं तत्संस्मरन्राजन्सर्वलोकस्य पश्यतः ।
न जघान रणे भीष्मः स च तं नावबुद्धवान् ॥८०॥
80. strītvaṁ tatsaṁsmaranrājansarvalokasya paśyataḥ ,
na jaghāna raṇe bhīṣmaḥ sa ca taṁ nāvabuddhavān.

na jaghāna raṇe bhīṣmaḥ saḥ ca taṃ na avabuddhavān

80. O King (Dhṛtarāṣṭra), remembering Śikhaṇḍin's feminine nature (strītva), Bhīṣma did not strike him in battle, even as the entire world watched. And Śikhaṇḍin, for his part, did not comprehend his (Bhīṣma's) intention.
