महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-80, verse-31

प्रतिग्रहादुपावृत्तः संतुष्टो नियतः शुचिः ।
अहंकारनिवृत्तश्च स तीर्थफलमश्नुते ॥३१॥
31. pratigrahādupāvṛttaḥ saṁtuṣṭo niyataḥ śuciḥ ,
ahaṁkāranivṛttaśca sa tīrthaphalamaśnute.
31. pratigrahāt upāvṛttaḥ saṃtuṣṭaḥ niyataḥ śuciḥ
ahaṅkāranivṛttaḥ ca saḥ tīrthaphalam aśnute
31. One who has abstained from accepting gifts, is contented, self-controlled, pure, and free from ego (ahaṅkāra)—he obtains the benefit (phalam) of sacred pilgrimage sites (tīrtha-s).
