महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-80, verse-106

चरुं नरेन्द्र सप्तार्चेर्यथाशक्ति निवेदयेत् ।
पितॄणामक्षयं दानं प्रवदन्ति मनीषिणः ॥१०६॥
106. caruṁ narendra saptārceryathāśakti nivedayet ,
pitṝṇāmakṣayaṁ dānaṁ pravadanti manīṣiṇaḥ.

106. O King, one should offer an oblation (caru) to Agni (saptārcis) according to one's capacity. The wise ones declare this to be an imperishable gift (dāna) for the ancestors.
