महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-80, verse-21

तं दृष्ट्वा नियमेनाथ स्वाध्यायाम्नायकर्शितम् ।
भीष्मं कुरुकुलश्रेष्ठं मुनिः प्रीतमनाभवत् ॥२१॥
21. taṁ dṛṣṭvā niyamenātha svādhyāyāmnāyakarśitam ,
bhīṣmaṁ kurukulaśreṣṭhaṁ muniḥ prītamanābhavat.
21. tam dṛṣṭvā niyamena atha svādhyāyāmnāyakarśitam
bhīṣmam kurukulaśreṣṭham muniḥ prītamanāḥ abhavat
21. Seeing Bhishma, the best of the Kuru lineage, emaciated by his disciplined practices and devotion to self-study and sacred tradition, the sage became pleased in mind.
