महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-107, verse-99

पतितैस्तु कथां नेच्छेद्दर्शनं चापि वर्जयेत् ।
संसर्गं च न गच्छेत तथायुर्विन्दते महत् ॥९९॥
99. patitaistu kathāṁ neccheddarśanaṁ cāpi varjayet ,
saṁsargaṁ ca na gaccheta tathāyurvindate mahat.
99. patitaiḥ tu kathām na icchet darśanam ca api varjayet
saṃsargam ca na gaccheta tathā āyuḥ vindate mahat
99. patitaiḥ tu kathām na icchet ca darśanam api varjayet
ca saṃsargam na gaccheta tathā mahat āyuḥ vindate
99. One should not desire conversation with outcasts, and should also avoid seeing them. One should not associate with them; by doing so, one obtains a long life.
