महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-107, verse-42

उभे मूत्रपुरीषे तु दिवा कुर्यादुदङ्मुखः ।
दक्षिणाभिमुखो रात्रौ तथास्यायुर्न रिष्यते ॥४२॥
42. ubhe mūtrapurīṣe tu divā kuryādudaṅmukhaḥ ,
dakṣiṇābhimukho rātrau tathāsyāyurna riṣyate.

dakṣiṇābhimukhaḥ rātrau tathā asya āyuḥ na riṣyate

42. One should pass both urine and feces facing north during the day, and facing south during the night. In this way, one's lifespan is not diminished.
