महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-107, verse-64

त्रीणि देवाः पवित्राणि ब्राह्मणानामकल्पयन् ।
अदृष्टमद्भिर्निर्णिक्तं यच्च वाचा प्रशस्यते ॥६४॥
64. trīṇi devāḥ pavitrāṇi brāhmaṇānāmakalpayan ,
adṛṣṭamadbhirnirṇiktaṁ yacca vācā praśasyate.

adṛṣṭam adbhiḥ nirṇiktam yat ca vācā praśasyate
64. The gods (deva) ordained three purifiers for brahmins (brāhmaṇa): the unseen, that which is cleansed by water, and that which is praised by speech.
