महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-107, verse-8

तस्मात्कुर्यादिहाचारं य इच्छेद्भूतिमात्मनः ।
अपि पापशरीरस्य आचारो हन्त्यलक्षणम् ॥८॥
8. tasmātkuryādihācāraṁ ya icchedbhūtimātmanaḥ ,
api pāpaśarīrasya ācāro hantyalakṣaṇam.
8. tasmāt kuryāt iha ācāram yaḥ icchet bhūtim
ātmanaḥ api pāpaśarīrasya ācāraḥ hanti alakṣaṇam
8. tasmāt yaḥ ātmanaḥ bhūtim icchet,
saḥ iha ācāram kuryāt.
api pāpaśarīrasya ācāraḥ alakṣaṇam hanti
8. Therefore, whoever desires his own welfare (ātman) should practice proper conduct (ācāra) in this world. Even for a person with a sinful body, proper conduct (ācāra) destroys inauspicious signs.
