महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-107, verse-118

कन्या चोत्पाद्य दातव्या कुलपुत्राय धीमते ।
पुत्रा निवेश्याश्च कुलाद्भृत्या लभ्याश्च भारत ॥११८॥
118. kanyā cotpādya dātavyā kulaputrāya dhīmate ,
putrā niveśyāśca kulādbhṛtyā labhyāśca bhārata.

118. O Bhārata, after having a daughter, she should be given in marriage to an intelligent man from a respectable family. Sons should be settled, and servants should be acquired from other families.
