मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-5, verse-94

राज्ञो महात्मिके स्थाने सद्यःशौचं विधीयते ।
प्रजानां परिरक्षार्थमासनं चात्र कारणम ॥९४॥
94. rājño mahātmike sthāne sadyaḥśaucaṁ vidhīyate ,
prajānāṁ parirakṣārthamāsanaṁ cātra kāraṇam.

94. In the elevated position of a king (rājñaḥ), immediate purification (sadyahśaucam) is prescribed, and the seat (āsanam) is also the reason here, for the protection of the subjects (prajānām).
