मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-5, verse-75

विगतं तु विदेशस्थं शृणुयाद यो ह्यनिर्दशम ।
यत्शेषं दशरात्रस्य तावदेवाशुचिर्भवेत ॥७५॥
75. vigataṁ tu videśasthaṁ śṛṇuyād yo hyanirdaśam ,
yatśeṣaṁ daśarātrasya tāvadevāśucirbhavet.

75. If one hears about the death of a relative who is abroad and the event is less than ten days old, one becomes impure for the remaining period of those ten days.
