वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-6, chapter-55, verse-111

वायव्यमादाय ततो वरास्त्रं रामः प्रचिक्षेप निशाचराय ।
समुद्गरं तेन जहार बाहुं स कृत्तबाहुस्तुमुलं ननाद ॥१११॥
111. vāyavyamādāya tato varāstraṃ rāmaḥ pracikṣepa niśācarāya ,
samudgaraṃ tena jahāra bāhuṃ sa kṛttabāhustumulaṃ nanāda.

111. Then, taking the excellent Vāyavya weapon, Rāma hurled it at the demon. With that, he severed his arm, along with the mace. Having his arm cut off, he roared terribly.
