महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-326, verse-95

अतिक्रान्ताः पुराणेषु श्रुतास्ते यदि वा क्वचित् ।
अतिक्रान्ताश्च बहवः प्रादुर्भावा ममोत्तमाः ।
लोककार्याणि कृत्वा च पुनः स्वां प्रकृतिं गताः ॥९५॥

atikrāntāśca bahavaḥ prādurbhāvā mamottamāḥ ,
lokakāryāṇi kṛtvā ca punaḥ svāṁ prakṛtiṁ gatāḥ.

95. Many supreme manifestations of mine have already transpired, whether you have heard of them in the Purāṇas or elsewhere. Having accomplished their cosmic tasks, they have returned to their own essential nature (prakṛti).
