महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-326, verse-55

देवकार्यादपि मुने पितृकार्यं विशिष्यते ।
देवानां च पितॄणां च पिता ह्येकोऽहमादितः ॥५५॥
55. devakāryādapi mune pitṛkāryaṁ viśiṣyate ,
devānāṁ ca pitṝṇāṁ ca pitā hyeko'hamāditaḥ.
55. devakāryāt api mune pitṛkāryam viśiṣyate
devānām ca pitṝṇām ca pitā hi ekaḥ aham āditaḥ
55. O sage (muni), duties to ancestors are considered superior even to those owed to the gods. For I am, in truth, the one primordial father of both the gods and the ancestors.
